The art of papercutting in China dates back to when paper was invented. As paper became more affordable, papercutting became one of the most important types of Chinese folk art. Cut outs are often used to decorate doors and the exterior of windows, so the light from the inside would shine through the negative space of the cut out. In this class, students will learn the art and create their own pieces.
