CCCCA Traditional Chinese Painting exhibiton
画家施荣宣、林玉琦夫妇将于二月十二日至十六日暨十余位学生於卡加利中华文化中心举行国画联展， 每日由上午十点至晚上八点。基於对国画教学和宣扬中华文化的热忱，施荣宣与林玉琦夫妇自2010年开始在中华文化中心教授中国写意与工笔画班。这次画展是施荣宣与林玉琦夫妇第四次暨学生在卡加利中华文化中心举办的联展， 以庆祝戊戌年的来临。
施荣宣（昊寿）早年受业于岭南派大师赵少昂教授与星加坡指画大师吴在炎先生。他自1965年开始授徒，曾在菲律宾教学多年，并多次应邀在各大学，博物馆及电视台示范讲学，已育得桃李满天下。他曾於世界各地举办画展，共举办过百多次的个展与联展。也出版了无数岭南画派技法书籍和画册。2009年创办国际中国艺术研究会(International Studies forChinese Arts 或ISCA)，部份会员作品可见於www.facebook.com/isca.isca。 现於卡加利中华文化中心教授中国岭南派写意画。

Chinese painting artists, Mr. Chiok Hau (Rong Xuan Sy) and Mrs. Chiu Hua Sy will hold a joint painting exhibition with over 10 students at the Calgary Chinese Cultural Centre (CCCCA) from February 12 to 16, from 10:00 to 20:00 daily. With the ardour to teach Chinese painting and to promote Chinese culture, Mr. and Mrs. Hau have been teaching “xie-yi” (free hand style) and “gong-bi” (meticulous or detailed style) Chinese painting at the CCC since 2010. This upcoming exhibition is the forth joint exhibition Mr. and Mrs. Chiok Hau hold with their students, in order to celebrate the lunar new year of “Earth Dog”.
In Mr. Hau’s early career, he was trained under the guidance of the Professor Shao Ang Chao, a master in Lingnan school of Chinese painting, and Mr. Tsai Yen Wu, an eminent finger painting artist. Since 1965, Mr. Hau has been teaching in the Philippines and had been invited to give lectures and Chinese painting demonstrations in television and over other mass media, in Universities, and in museums. He has taught thousands of students from 54 different nationalities. His works have been exhibited in over a hundred of solo and joint exhibitions. In 2009, he established the International Studies for Chinese Arts (ISCA) to promote art activities and exchange. Mrs. Chiu Hua Sy graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from University of the Philippines and lectured at the same university after graduation. She had been a member of the Pilippine Art Educators Association and vice president of the International Studies for Chinese Arts Association. At present, Mrs. Sy teaches “gong-bi” Chinese painting at the CCC.
The upcoming exhibition will showcase approximately 40 paintings by Mr. and Mrs. Hau and their students. The paintings, covering a wide range of themes such as landscapes, flowers and birds, fish and insects, and figures, will demonstrate the creative and diversified characteristics of Lingnan school of Chinese painting. The Lingnan school of painting was founded by Jien Fu Gao, Qi Feng Gao and Shu Ren Chen in the 20th century. Being influenced by Western European visual arts, it was revolutionary and innovative for the traditional Chinese painting. This style of painting remains influential in the contemporary Chinese painting art circle.
