Erhu Workshop
A rare opportunity for Calgary's erhu players! The workshop will be taught by the principal erhuist of the China National Traditional Orchestra (中央民族樂團), Mr. Lu Jian-Min (who will also be performing on Oct 26 at Theatre 1308).
The 2-hour workshop is designed for erhu players of all skill levels to learn and improve their playing. The workshop will focus on playing technique, learning a piece of repertoire, as well as a Q&A and short interview with the artist. The workshop will be in Chinese (mandarin) with a live English translator.

Artist Bio:
Principal Erhuist of the China National Traditional Orchestra (中央民族樂團), Lu Jian-Min has toured around the world and performed in iconic concert halls, such as Carnegie Hall, Berliner Philharmonie, and The Golden Hall in Vienna. He specializes in playing Cantonese music, and won first prize in playing gaohu at “National Cantonese Music Competition”. In recent years, Lu has focused on composing and arranging erhu music, which was published in a compilation book in 2021.
This event is organized by artist Jiajia Li & Gai Lan Ensemble, in collaboration with the Calgary Chinese Cultural Centre, supported by the City of Calgary.

卡城二胡愛好者的福音來了！中央民族樂團二胡首席，中國國家一級演員魯建敏先生即將到訪卡城進行演出(10月26日）及公開課（10月25日）的活動。

藝術家簡歷：
中央民族樂團國家一級演員，中國音樂家協會會員、中國民族管弦樂協會會員、中國民族管弦樂協會普及民族音樂藝術委員會副會長，中央廣播電視總台 “中國器樂電視大賽” 評委、香港學校音樂節評委、北京市第35中學金帆民樂團專家組組長，並擔任中央民族樂團二胡聲部首席。
1960年出生於浙江杭州。1983年以優異的成績畢業於中央音樂學院，先後師從於著名二胡演奏家、音樂理論家藍玉松教授，著名二胡演奏家許講德先生，著名高胡演奏家余其偉先生。 1987年獲“全國廣東音樂比賽”高胡演奏一等獎；1989年獲“第13屆世界青年聯歡節”最高榮譽金獎；1995年獲全國“富利通”杯器樂獨奏比賽優秀演奏獎。2021年改編的雙二胡作品《良宵》榮獲第二屆敦煌杯室內樂作品銅獎。
自工作以來，多次隨國家領導人出訪歐美重要國家，足跡踏遍30多個國家和地區。曾在美國紐約卡內基音樂廳、林肯藝術中心、奧地利維也納金色大廳、德國柏林愛樂音樂廳、日本東京音樂廳等世界著名音樂殿堂進行表演。近年來更多次受邀在加拿大各地舉行演奏會。2019年11月在北京成功舉辦《中國情·中國節》二胡個人作品音樂會。2021年1月在北京成功舉行由魯建敏編著上海音樂出版社出版的《中國情》《中國節》新編二胡曲集新書發布會暨演奏會。
近年來作者先後錄制和出版了《雅樂》、《凱旋》等演奏專輯；編寫出版了《實用二胡基礎教程》一書，其中多首二胡練習曲被選入中國音協考級教程中。2018年於北京金帆音樂廳成功舉辦了個人師生音樂會，並被授予北京金帆音樂廳《名家工作室》承擔人稱號。
此次二胡工作坊由卡城樂團Gai Lan Ensemble 及藝術家李佳佳女士策劃主辦，卡城中華文化中心協辦，並由City of Calgary協助支持。
